How to Study Coloratura

Participants: This workshop is open to singers of all genres interested in the topic being addressed. However, it is geared towards classical singers.
Description: This seminar will explore:
- The agility skills every singer should acquire, regardless of voice fach
- Common technical challenges in approaching coloratura, and how they can be overcome
- 15 types of agility exercises used by great singers, past and present
- A specific process for learning a new melisma or cadenza
In addition, three singer volunteers will work on on coloratura passages of their choice with Julia.
Singers will receive a coloratura guide filled with dozens of examples of agility exercises, and will also develop a short, personalized vocal agility “workout” to perform regularly as part of their vocalizing routine.
